What Znovo keeps about you, why, who sees it and for how long. In plain words.

Updated on 9 October 2026

Who we are

Znovo (znovo.app) is a marketplace for second-hand things. Znovo decides how your data is used and is responsible for it.

For anything about your data, write to [email protected]. We answer in Ukrainian, Portuguese or English.

What we keep

Only what the service needs to work and to keep people safe:

  • Your account: email, the name you chose, your language. If you add them: a phone number, your city and approximate location, passkeys (we store only their public part) and the link to your Google account if you sign in with Google.
  • Addresses you save: meeting places and shipping addresses, with the recipient's name and phone.
  • Your listings: photos, descriptions, price, city and district. We remove location and camera data from every photo when it is uploaded.
  • Chats and orders: your messages, orders, and the delivery address or tracking number you share for an order.
  • Payment details a seller adds for a buyer: an MB WAY number or an IBAN with the holder's name. We show them only to the buyer of that order. We never move or hold money.
  • Reviews you write and receive, and figures from your deals, such as response time and completed deals.
  • Donation receipts you publish. You cover private details on your own device before uploading, so we never receive the uncovered file.
  • Safety records: when a chat message contains payment or contact details, we record that it happened, not the text. Moderation cases, the statements you send us and our decisions.
  • Support requests: what you write goes to our support mailbox. On the site we keep only the topic, the date and the reference.
  • Anonymous visit statistics: which pages are opened and how fast they load, where a visit came from (a website's name or a campaign tag) and which features are used, such as a search that found nothing. To count one visit, we combine your IP address and browser with a random key that changes every day and keep only the result. Your IP address, browser, account and session are never stored with these statistics, so we can't tell who you are or link a visit to another day.
  • Technical data: your IP address, for a short time, to stop abuse such as too many code requests, and the cookies listed below.

Why we use it

  • To provide the service you signed up for: your account, listings, chat, orders and reviews. Legal basis: the contract with you (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To keep people safe and stop fraud: chat safety rules, moderation, abuse limits, and the records we keep after an account is deleted. Legal basis: our legitimate interest and that of other users (art. 6(1)(f)), and legal obligations (art. 6(1)(c)).
  • To send the emails and SMS the service needs: sign-in codes, order updates and reminders about your deals. You choose which reminder emails you get in your profile's email settings.
  • To translate listings, reviews and messages so people without a shared language can deal with each other (the contract and our legitimate interest).
  • To understand how Znovo is used and make it better and faster, from anonymous visit statistics. Legal basis: our legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)).

Machine translation and AI

Listings, reviews and chat messages are translated automatically into Ukrainian, Portuguese and English. This text is processed by Google's Gemini models on Google Cloud Vertex AI, in a data centre in the EU.

When you ask us to fill in a listing from your photos or tidy a description, those photos and words go to the same service. Search sentences are understood by the same models. If Google doesn't answer a search sentence in time, Anthropic (Claude), in the United States, may answer it instead. If Google is unavailable for longer, we may also switch filling in listings and tidying descriptions to Anthropic. Chat messages never go to Anthropic.

These providers process the data only for us and do not use it to train their models. We don't use AI to read your chat for safety: those checks are simple fixed rules. No decision with legal or similarly significant effect on you is made automatically. Moderation decisions are made by a person.

Who sees your data

We never sell your data. Znovo has no advertising and no third-party analytics tools. We count visits ourselves, anonymously, as described above. The one tracking we can't switch off is in our emails: Brevo, which sends them, counts whether an email was opened and whether a link in it was clicked. It counts this anonymously, without linking it to your address, and we don't use these figures.

Some of these providers work outside the EU (Cloudflare's global network, Anthropic in the United States). Those transfers are protected by the EU standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

  • Everyone: your listings, your name, city, the date you joined, your badges, reviews and deal figures, and the donation receipts you publish. Each receipt shows your name, on your page and on the charity page.
  • The other person in a deal: what the deal needs. The seller sees the delivery address for shipping, and the buyer sees the payment details the seller added.
  • Companies that run parts of the service for us: netcup (servers in the EU), Cloudflare (network, content delivery, photo storage and forwarding mail to our support address), Brevo (email and SMS, France), Google (sign in with Google, our support mailbox, and the AI above) and Anthropic (the AI above). Each processes data only on our instructions.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and what you added to it: until you delete the account.
  • Being signed in: 30 days after your last visit.
  • Sign-in codes: 10 minutes.
  • A listing you started and never published: 90 days after the last change.
  • The delivery address and payment details shared in a deal: 90 days after the deal ends. Kept 180 days instead if a problem with the deal was reported.
  • The record of a support request: 12 months. The emails in our support mailbox: also 12 months.
  • The photo attached to a statement in a moderation case: 30 days after the case is closed.
  • IP addresses used for abuse limits: from minutes to a few hours.
  • Visit statistics: single events for 90 days, then only daily totals. The text of a search that found nothing: 30 days.

When you delete your account

You can delete your account yourself in your profile. We erase your email, name, phone, addresses, payment details, passkeys, connected sign-in accounts, drafts and saved items. Your listings disappear from Znovo at once and are archived. Reviews you wrote that are already published stay, without your name; those not yet published are deleted.

Some things stay, without your name, because other people or the law need them: conversations and deal records the other person still has, donation totals, and safety records and moderation decisions, which we keep to prevent fraud (GDPR art. 17(3)). You can't delete the account while an order with a prepayment is in progress or a dispute is open. If your account was suspended, write to [email protected] and we will delete it for you.

Cookies and storage on your device

We use only what the site needs to work, so there is no cookie banner:

  • A session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a security cookie that protects your actions from forged requests.
  • Your chosen language, the location you chose for the catalogue (kept 90 days), and how results are laid out on your phone: one or two items per row.
  • In your browser's storage: your recent searches, a listing you started and favourites saved before you signed in, and a note that this device has a passkey. They stay on your device.
  • Visit statistics use no cookies and store nothing on your device.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, object to it, or receive it in a portable form. You can withdraw consent or object at any time, for example by turning off reminder emails in your profile's email settings.

Write to [email protected]. We answer within one month. If you think we are mishandling your data, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, CNPD (cnpd.pt).

Age

Znovo is for people aged 18 and over. Parents sell their children's things on their own accounts.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If a change matters for you, we tell you by email or in the app before it applies.
